Museum Embankment Festival

Picture: Money Museum tent Every year at the end of August, Frankfurt celebrates the “Museumsuferfest” (museum embankment festival). On the weekend of 27-29 August, Frankfurt’s museums on both banks of the Main will be open until late at night with special programmes.

Visitors will find a wide range of cultural events, fine foods and information stands.

Here, visitors have the opportunity to strike their own souvenir coin of the festival or to guess the value of a container full of shredded banknotes. The person who comes closest to guessing the correct value of the banknotes will win an exciting prize.

Visitors will also be able to take part in a quiz, where they will have the chance of winning a coin set containing the €1 coins of all 16 euro-area countries or €10 silver coins every hour. In addition, every day at 18.00, we will be offering a rare coin set from San Marino, Monaco or Vatican City.

A selection of original euro and D-Mark souvenirs will also be on sale at the museum shop.

Visitors can find out all about money, the activities of a central bank and about the Money Museum itself. The Money Museum gives its visitors an understandable and entertaining insight into the world of money and shows what central banks do to maintain monetary stability.
