Why do we actually need money?
What characteristics does it have to have in order to fulfil its functions? On this stage,
you will learn about the basics of monetary theory and policy.
At an interactive terminal, you can see for yourself how difficult life would be without money - in a goods market in the imaginary country of Nonpekunia.
A video film will acquaint you with some influential scholars who, over the past centuries, pondered on the conditions for stable, functional money. Their message: money must be scarce if it is to be stable.
Stage 1 - Stage 2 - Stage 3 - Stage 4 - Stage 5 - Stage 6
The Money Museum will be closed on 29 August 2010 because of the "Museumsuferfest".
